Cumbia Massive brings tropical heat with La Descarga, Cumbia Cosmonauts, Bandides and more
Cumbia Massive is set to ignite Brunswick Ballroom with a night of unstoppable rhythms and tropical vibes.
Melbourne’s biggest cumbia celebration brings together four electrifying acts for a journey through the evolution of this influential Latin American sound.

The powerhouse lineup features La Descarga, bringing bone-shaking rhythms and fiery colourfulness straight from the Colombian Caribbean to Melbourne’s dancefloors.
They’ll be joined by Cumbia Cosmonauts, pioneers of new-wave cumbia who blend heavy grooves with Afro-Caribbean influences and electronic sound system culture to create their distinctive tropical bass sound.
Adding to the mix, Bandides will deliver their rebellious and experimental approach, fusing traditional cumbia with rock, hip-hop and electronic elements for a wildly unconventional sonic experience.
Completing the bill is Saca La Mois DJ, a cumbia and bass specialist known for selecting the deepest tropical sounds and playing a key role in Melbourne’s thriving global bass scene.
The event promises a full-scale cumbia party showcasing the genre’s rich journey from the traditional folklore of the Colombian Caribbean to the synth-driven sounds of Argentina’s cumbia villera, highlighting this rhythm’s status as a musical backbone across Latin America.
The night doubles as a triple birthday celebration for Jorge from La Descarga, Moses from Cumbia Cosmonauts, and David from Bandides, adding an extra layer of festivity to the proceedings.
Standing tickets are now available, with the venue configured to maximise dancefloor space for this high-energy event. Limited seating will be available on a first-come basis, but the focus will be on creating an immersive dance experience.
