Melbourne Zoo launch Summer Cinema program on the zoo lawns

Melbourne Zoo

Melbourne Zoo have launched a Summer Cinema program between February and March this year.

It’s happening on the zoo lawn, the same place that usually holds their popular Zoo Twilight concerts program, which won’t take place this year.

The program will run every Thursday – Saturday from 3 February – 13 March and feature new release films from critically acclaimed cult directors, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza and Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, alongside classics such as 10 Things I Hate About You and Jurassic Park.

Zoo Summer Cinema ticketholders will have access to the Melbourne Zoo grounds from 5.30pm, with DJs and keeper talks before the feature film screening at 8:00pm.

There will be different food trucks for each film, while there will also be food hamper catering provided by Baketico and Raymond Capaldi.

“Our Summer Cinema program is the perfect reason to visit the Zoo with friends and loved ones, see some animals, see a great movie and know that you are supporting the important work of our Marine Response Unit,” Melbourne Zoo Director, Michelle Bruggeman.

Ticket sales will go towards supporting the work of Melbourne Zoo’s Marine Response Unit, and its work to rescue injured marine wildlife, including seals and seabirds in Victoria. Last year, the MRU recorded its biggest ever year, responding to 918 cases over 12 months.
