Melbourne trio HighSchool to play one-off headline show at The Corner Hotel

HighSchool

HighSchool - the Melbourne trio of Lilli and Rory Trobbiani and Luke Scott - make a spellbinding indie-pop sound full of stylish, gothic excess and today they have announced their one-off headline show in Melbourne has been upgraded to Corner Hotel on December 14 due to popular demand.

Coming off the back of supporting Sam Fender on his massive Australian tour this month, the upgraded show will mark their debut headline performance in their hometown. Having spent 2021 dropping great singles with stunning, band-made accompanying videos, they finally released their infectious six-track debut EP, Forever at Last, at the end of the year to much acclaim.

With people hooked, the first 12” pressing sold-out immediately and the gig bookings flew in. Now based in London, they wasted no time getting to know their new home, supporting CHVRCHES, NewDad and Wet Leg, playing sold out headline shows in Berlin, London, Dublin and Paris, as well as playing loads of great UK and European festivals including All Points East, End of the Road, The Great Escape, Manchester Pysch Festival, Sea Change, Standon Calling and Visions.

With word of mouth still spreading on their debut EP, they headed to in-demand producer Dan Carey’s (Black Country New Road, Squid, Wet Leg and countless more) studio to record the anthemic Only a Dream, a track known to fans as the band’s set closer, being released on his celebrated Speedy Wunderground label as the latest instalment in their long-running 7” series, released December 2nd and already sold out on pre-order.

Talking about the track, they said, “The process of making a song – from composing to recording to releasing – usually takes us ages. We labour every detail and do like 30 mixes before we’re happy. In this sense, working with Speedy has been a revelation. Completing the recording of an entire song in one day and completing the mix the next day was liberating. It taught us to be economical and concise, and not to sweat the small stuff. Dan is a total visionary and an absolute pleasure to work with. We’re super stoked with the result!”
