The MSO has unveiled its 2021 season, featuring an all-Australian program and over 100 events.

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will return to the stage next year with a massive 2021 program bursting with Australian talent. Running from January to June, part one of the MSO Season 2021 boasts over 100 events, including eight world premieres, 12 Australian premieres, 24 soloists and seven works commissioned by the MSO.

Kicking off with its beloved Sidney Myer Free Concert series, the MSO will resume live shows with a string of socially-distanced gigs under the stars. Welcoming homegrown conductors and guest soloists, the Sidney Myer Free Concert series will see the MSO collaborating with the likes of Paul Grabowsky AO, Birds of Tokyo, The Bamboos, Fantasia in Concert, and Meow Meow.

In addition to the Sidney Myer Free Concert series, the MSO will also grace stages at much-loved venues across Melbourne such as the Melbourne Town Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, Robert Blackwood Hall (Monash) and Costa Hall (Geelong).

To align with the launch of the 2021 season, the MSO will also debut its new digital platform MSO.LIVE to bring special concert events, talks and experiences to audiences at home.

“We are so excited to be returning to the stage and welcoming our audiences back from January,” said MSO Managing Director Sophie Galaise.

“We look forward to welcoming world-class talent from within the MSO, as well as leading artists from Victoria and across the country to our stage, with this uniquely Australian program,” she said.
