Few acts balance mainstage euphoria with underground credibility quite like RÜFÜS DU SOL. While the trio have firmly established themselves as global trailblazers in electronic music, their deep connection to club culture continues shaping sound and captivating dancefloors worldwide. Inhale / Exhale elevated their cinematic, emotive sound to new heights while remaining grounded in dancefloor pulse; territory they’ll explore further in this special Melbourne appearance.
Beat writer Bryget Chrisfield spoke with James Hunt back in 2021 around the release of their fourth album Surrender, where he reflected on the band’s creative process and connection with audiences.
“You can see people in the crowd connecting with the music. It feels a lot more special now; people are more grateful than ever to be going to live music shows,” Hunt said at the time.
“I’m seeing a lot more people sobbing and having cathartic experiences. It’s really cool to see that and it still blows my mind that people have that kind of experience to the music we create.”
Hunt also revealed how the band’s creative approach had evolved over time.
“I definitely have always viewed myself as a night owl and I definitely have this idea, that I was fixated on, that creativity hits its peak in the late hours, so, after 8pm,” he explained.
“A lot of good ideas have come from that and we’ve written a lot of great music super-late at night, but it was cool to trust the process: ‘Okay, we’re just going to work normal hours and then prioritise our health – our mental and physical health – and then trust that the music will come. It did and it felt really good.'”
SG Lewis joins the lineup, bringing his sleek, groove-driven productions and effortless blend of disco, house and electronica that’s earned global acclaim. Rising talent Samantha Loveridge rounds out the bill, recently releasing debut EP Moon Child on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue Records label imprint. Her emotive melodic house sound and hypnotic sets will set the tone for an unforgettable night of rhythm and atmosphere.
This one-night-only event invites fans into an immersive and deeply connected experience at Wool Store’s industrial space. As the only DJ set RÜFÜS DU SOL perform during their Australian arena tour, it’s a chance to experience George and Hunt in their element – focused on the club, the crowd and the extended journey that DJ sets allow beyond the structure of live performances.
Wool Store’s cavernous industrial setting provides the perfect backdrop for RÜFÜS DU SOL’s deeper sonic explorations. From day into night, the curation builds through Loveridge’s opening melodic layers, SG Lewis’s disco-house grooves, before George and Hunt take over for their extended journey through the sounds that shaped their rise from underground darlings to arena-filling electronic music heavyweights.
