Building on last year’s successful debut, the Nature Conservancy’s 2025 Oceania Photo Contest is calling for entries from amateur and professional photographers across Australia (including us, Melbourne), New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. With six categories spanning everything from wildlife to climate action, there’s room for every type of nature lover to get involved.

Contest organisers are hunting for images that showcase Oceania’s extraordinary biodiversity – much of which exists nowhere else on Earth. From rare species and dramatic landscapes to intimate moments between people and nature, winning shots will help tell the story of why conservation matters in our region.

Renowned nature photographer Jarrod Boord returns as a judge this year, alongside Ben Buckland and Annette Ruzicka. The judging panel will be looking for images that don’t just look beautiful, but actually inspire people to protect what they love about the natural world.

Winning images won’t just score cash prizes, they’ll also be featured across Nature Conservancy’s national campaigns, digital platforms and public exhibitions.

It’s a chance for Melbourne photographers to see their work making a real difference in conservation efforts while potentially earning some serious spending money.
