Melbourne Music Week: An Electronic Matinee

Melbourne Music Week: An Electronic Matinee

This event is part of the 2021 Melbourne Music Week.

An Electronic Matinee is an improvisation between three old school friends – Ollie Olsen, Andrew Duffield, and Bill McDonald. The performance sees the friends come together for the very first time.

Ollie Olsen is a legendary musician, improviser, producer, and record label owner. He was pivotal in developing Melbourne’s punk and electronic music scenes in the ’70s, forming bands the Young Charlatans and Whirlywirld. He went on to form the Orchestra of Skin and Bone, and later the studio band Max Q with Michael Hutchence. He also created the label Psy-Harmonics with Andrew Till.

He’ll be joined at Melbourne’s iconic The Toff in Town by Andrew Duffield – an original member of Whirlywirld and member of seminal band Models – and Bill McDonald, who played on several of Ollie’s projects including Max Q.

On support is Darrow, a psychedelic synthgazer duo of Nick Wilson and Gabbie Potocnik. Nick’s background in electronic music includes Random Acts of Elevator Music, City Frequencies, Tiatto and Continuum. Gabbie is a multi-instrumentalist who also plays in Cynthia, The Bleeding Flares and The Black Heart Death Cult.
