Max Watt’s: The beating heart of Melbourne Music Week 2021

Melbourne Music Week

From tomorrow onwards, we all get to reacquaint ourselves with an old friend. The beloved Max Watt's will be Melbourne Music Week's 2021 MMW Club.

Melbourne Music Week couldn’t have picked a better venue than Max Watt’s to be the temporary home of the city’s premier music showcase as we all fall in love with the city’s live music culture all over again.

There’s no question the music industry has taken a hit these last few years. With constant lockdowns, border closures and lack of social interaction, it’s been a hard slog for those in the music world.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

But the Melbourne music scene is a resilient bunch, banding together for some awesome things on the horizon. That’s why it’s worth taking a second to focus on the awesome partnership this year between the MMW and Max Watts venue.

This is Melbourne Music Week 2021’s major break with tradition; the organisers have wisely decided to take over the iconic Max Watt’s for a brand new MMW Club, rather than pop-up their usual Hub venue, in recognition of the battle existing Melbourne venues have faced over the past two years.

Instead, Max Watt’s will offer eight consecutive nights of local music, spearheading a program that spans the length and breadth of Melbourne music and venues.

So if you haven’t bought tickets to a gig yet – and while they’re selling fast, there’s still tickets to some fantastic gigs available – today we’re having a look at who’s on the bill at the MMW Club for this awesome week of live music.
