Shimmerlands will take over the University of Melbourne in Parkville with two months of film, music, art and hospitality throughout the daylight and night hours, featuring an outdoor cinema, outdoor music amphitheatre, multiple bars and an al fresco dining area hosting an extensive range of Melbourne’s finest restaurants.
As well as revealing Parquet Courts as the first act, Shimmerlands promises more outdoor music spanning a range of genres, with more acts yet to be revealed.
Elsewhere, the Shadow Electric Outdoor Cinema will return with a handpicked program from the Human Rights & Arts Film Festival’s esteemed Program Director Lauren Valmadre. The film selection will boast a diverse range of 35 major releases, independent gems, music documentaries and cult classics.
The heart of Shimmerlands will be The Food Quarter and The Pavillion – offering an oasis of bars, lounge areas and DJs – all rounded out with 16 of Melbourne’s finest restaurants hand selected by Chin Chin’s Jess Ho. Expect top-notch cuisine from the likes of St Ali, Pho Nom, Chandong Mumma and more.
