The legacy of Molly Meldrum will be eternally commemorated when a bronze statue of the Aussie music industry legend is erected behind the Corner Hotel.
The plan has been in the works for a while, with the Australian Cultural Fund long pushing for a statue that celebrates Meldrum’s impact on the industry at large.
“A world-renowned music journalist and TV presenter, Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum has lived in Richmond for decades; his house is often a public display of his interest in Egyptology and sport,” details a statement on the Fund’s website.
Over the course of his career, Molly Meldrum interviewed countless iconic artists, hosted Countdown, and singlehandedly make the Akubra cool again.
