Melbourne International Comedy Festival Lineup Announced!

For their 25th birthday, MICF have a huge and amazing lineup.

It’s the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s 25th Birthday in 2011 and to celebrate, they’ve announced a huge lineup of some of the greatest comedy from Australia and around the globe.

The comedy festival started off with just 50 shows in 20 venues and it’s grown to gigantic proportions over the past 25 years. In 2011 there will be over 300 events at 120 venues around Melbourne.

The first batch of artists from the greater globe include New Art Club, Paul F Tompkins, Tom Segura, Paul Foot, Doc Brown, Sean Patton, Zoe Lyons, Moshe Kasher and Matt Braunger. There’s also Arj Barker, Maria Bamford, David O’Doherty, Eddie Ifft, Nina Conti, Pajama Men, Mark Watson, Stephen K Amos, Reginald D Hunter, Tig Notaro and Russell Kane.

Aussie favourites Sammy J & Randy, David Quirk, Tom Gleeson, Felicity Ward, Wil Anderson, Alan Brough, Smart Casual, Josh Thomas, Tom Ballard, Hannah Gadsby, Rod Quantock, Lawrence Leung, Charlie Pickering, Michael Chamberlin, Tom Gleeson, Denise Scott, Justin Hamilton, Andrew McLelland, Dave Thornton, The List Operators, Kitty Glanagan, Sam Simmons, Josh Earl, Steven Abbott (The Sandman), Peter Hellier, Melinda Buttle, Fear Of A Brown Planet, Tommy Little and Carl Baron return to complete the lineup.

There’s also the RAW Comedy competition. The Class Clowns Teenage Gala for school-aged comedians, and indigenous comedy competition and workshop. The Oxfram Gala and The Festival Club, which will be at The Hi-Fi. Huge.
