Melbourne International Comedy Festival Call For Class Clowns

standupcomedy.jpg

Starting in February 2013, professional comedians will be hitting the road to visit towns across Australia with the aim of finding the most sidesplitting senoritas and facetious fellas from each state and territory.

The cream of the teenage crop will then be flown to Melbourne to perform on the main stage in the Class Clowns National Grand Final, held on April 19 during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, in front of audiences from far and wide. Prizes include $1000 for themselves, $1000 for their school and of course, the prestigious Class Clown Title.

No matter where you live in Australia, if you are in years 9 – 12 or 14-‐18 years old (in 2013) you can enter as a solo act or in a group of up to three members. All you need to do is come up with your own original five minutes of stand-up, sketch, musical parody or something wild in between, participate in a workshop with a professional practicing comedian, and then present your act at a real, live, public performance.

Class Clowns alumni includes names such as Tom Ballard (triple j), Josh Thomas (Talkin’ Bout My Generation) and Jesus (The Bible).
