The massive gear festival is making a new home in Melbourne this year.
In a major shake-up for Australia’s premier guitar event, the Melbourne Guitar Show is strapping on fresh strings and relocating to the Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds for its 2025 edition.
The two-day gear fest, running from Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2, is introducing several new features that’ll have both seasoned shredders and acoustic aficionados frothing.

Most notably, the show will now offer “quiet time” during the morning sessions – a couple of hours where amplifiers take a break, allowing punters to browse in relative peace before the full sonic assault begins.
The new venue layout spreads across three dedicated spaces: a main exhibitor hall, an acoustic room, and a Fender-specific showcase. Guitar education gets a boost too, with the Make Music program offering workshops from Rock Academy and songwriting sessions courtesy of I Heart Songwriting Club.
For those worried about getting hangry between testing vintage Les Pauls, food trucks will be parked outside the venue. And in an unexpected twist, the show shares its weekend with The Pet Show next door – though you’ll need separate tickets if you want to mix Marshall stacks with Maltese pups.
The core appeal remains unchanged: dozens of exhibitors will be showing off everything from major brand gear to boutique Australian-made equipment from local luthiers and pedal wizards.
It’s still wallet-friendly too, with early bird tickets starting at $28 for single-day general admission and $17 for concession holders (plus a modest 50-cent booking fee). Weekend passes are available at $44.50 for general admission and $28 for concession, while kids under 12 get in free.
The new location comes with improved accessibility, including direct tram access and ample parking. All exhibition spaces, performance areas, and workshop rooms are conveniently located on a single level, making it easier than ever to navigate between checking out that dream guitar and catching sets from leading axe-wielders.
