Melbourne glows with monumental new inflatable art experience

Melbourne Prahran Square
words by staff writer

Melbourne is preparing for something extraordinary landing in Prahran Square this August.

Iwagumi Air Scape transforms Prahran Square, Melbourne, this August with monumental inflatable sculptures.

Melbourne prepares for something extraordinary.  A globally celebrated interactive art installation promises to transform one of the city’s most iconic urban spaces.

Award-winning studio ENESS brings their masterpiece to Australian soil for the first time. Iwagumi Air Scape creates a sculptural landscape of monumental inflatable rock forms. These towering structures shimmer with sound, light and imagination across the heart of Chapel Street Precinct.

The installation draws inspiration from Japanese Iwagumi philosophy. This ancient practice focuses on the careful placement of stones in natural harmony. The forms appear like ancient stone monoliths from a distance. Up close, visitors discover they’re actually air-filled inflatables engineered for an astonishing optical illusion.
