Acting as the festival’s immersive and stunning centrepiece comes the most ambitious Keynote Project in Melbourne Fringe’s storied history – Sky Light, by renowned artist and producer Robin Fox.

Sky Light will connect Melbourne’s city buildings across the Yarra using twelve powerful beams of laser light. Beginning at Princes Bridge, Fringe-goers can choose a path along the river bank, looking up as they follow the light and become enveloped by intermittent soundscapes.

In another work from Fox, White Beam will bookend the festival illuminating Prahran’s Grattan Gardens from Thursday September 29 to the Festival’s close.

Further highlights include the 30th anniversary of Fringe Furniture, coming full circle by asking designers to focus on the project’s original brief – celebrating iconic, eclectic and cutting edge design.

Kids VS Art will see children offer their insights and opinions on contemporary art, while Bellbird will create an enchanted forest of sound with an interactive musical installation.

Of course, the Festival Club will make a comeback for 2016 offering a place to drink, dance and take in some special events. Elsewhere, The Other Film Festival is set to screen a slew of powerful, thoughtful and diverse films, while Open Book surrounds itself with literature, poetry and the power of speech. Rounding it out comes the Festival Spotlight Stage, bringing the hottest acts from Fringe to Federation Square for a free variety showcase.
