Melbourne city nightclubs welcome fresh CBD addition with house and techno hotel takeover

The healthy list of Melbourne city nightclubs welcomed Metro House last weekend, as the CBD's latest addition to the weekend scene.

House, tech and dance have a new home in the heart of the city, with Metro House opening its doors inside the Metropolitan Hotel. Claiming level one of the three-storey venue, the venue joins the party alongside our other Melbourne city nightclubs, and is carving out space for up-and-coming DJs alongside established names, focusing purely on electronic music.

Opening weekend on November 21 brought back-to-back programming across Friday and Saturday nights, setting the tone for what looks like a regular weekend schedule. Located at 265 William Street, it’s positioned right in the CBD’s core, making it an easy stop for anyone already out in the city or finishing up at nearby bars.

Friday 28 November sees Bas and Rollcage headlining with support from D-Rowe, Bella Funk, Brando, Indusdisha and Circuit Fingers. Saturday 29 November brings Weirdtechnogirlfriend and Paul Le Bay to the decks, backed by Lucas Walters, Cares, Jake Broome, Glenmorgan, Oscar Drake and Brando.

Doors open at 10pm for both nights, running through to 3am. Early ticket purchases come with a free drink card, which isn’t a bad incentive for anyone curious about checking out the new space while it’s still finding its feet.

Metro House is positioning itself as a platform for emerging talent rather than just booking the same big names on rotation. Each weekend brings different headliners and support acts, keeping the programming fresh and giving lesser-known DJs a proper platform in a CBD venue.

Being tucked inside the Metropolitan Hotel gives it a slightly different vibe to standalone clubs. You’re walking into a hotel to get to the nightclub, which might feel odd at first but makes sense given how central the location is. Easy access via public transport and walkable from pretty much anywhere in the city.

Programming appears locked in for weekends, with Friday and Saturday nights both committed to house, tech house and dance music. No word yet on whether they’ll expand to other nights, but for now it’s a solid weekend option for anyone wanting to stay in the CBD rather than heading out to suburban venues.

Melbourne city nightclubs electronic music scene keeps expanding, and Metro House adds another dedicated space for house music lovers who prefer staying central. With opening weekend now done, we can’t wait to see how they settle in.
