The Melbourne chess club festival features two major tournaments with 64 players each. Players compete in both chill and hectic format competitions throughout the evening.
Organisers promise feats of strength through over-the-board chaos. The event celebrates what they call Chesstivus miracles, including Triple Muzio Gambits and strategic gameplay.
Major prizes come from multiple local sponsors. IRVINE, Runner Up, Future Days Wine, -TOPIA, When Pigs Fly contribute to the prize pool. Still Life Club, SPASTA, Stomping Ground, Sucker Store and Cinema Nova also provide rewards.
Winners, runners-up and third place finishers receive merchandise, drinks, tickets and vouchers. The competition structure ensures multiple prize opportunities across different tournament categories, nice!
Entry remains free for spectators wanting to enjoy live music performances. The expanded venue allows larger crowds to experience both chess competition and musical entertainment.
The festival represents Acid Chess Club’s largest event to date. Organisers describe it as a celebration bringing together competitive minds and musical entertainment in equal measure.
Collingwood Yards provides the expanded venue space needed for the dual tournament format. The location accommodates both competitive players and spectators enjoying the musical performances.
Leaps and Bounds Festival, Yarra City Council and PBS FM sponsor the special artist lineup.
It’s the most hectic tournament to date…checkmate!
