Melbourne CBD is getting an ominous booth just for screaming in

words by staff writer

Melbourne's getting a Scream to Win booth where your best blood-curdling shriek could land you a horror film role.

Scream to Win competition brings a terrifying booth to Melbourne CBD this month.

Running from 16-19 October at Crown River Walk, the free experience invites locals to unleash their most unhinged screams for the chance to score a spot as an extra in an upcoming Australian horror film. Organisers 19 Crimes are setting up the ominous booth right in the heart of Melbourne CBD.

One lucky screamer will win travel, accommodation and two days on set for the film production. Other standout performers will take home spot prizes for their spine-tingling efforts.

Can’t make it to the Melbourne CBD booth? An online competition is running for anyone around the country who reckons they’ve got what it takes. Purchase a bottle of 19 Crimes, keep your receipt, then head to screamtoredeem.com.au to submit your recording. Haunting screams go into the draw for instant cash prizes and vouchers from a total prize pool of $35,500.

No bookings are needed for the Melbourne booth, just rock up ready to let loose. Whether you’re after a horror movie break or just need to blow off some steam, the experience is open to anyone brave enough to step inside.

Halloween enthusiasts have been treated to increasingly creative experiences in recent years, and this scream-focused activation taps into that energy. Last year saw a Possessed Wine Bar pop up, proving there’s truly an appetite for unconventional seasonal events.

Online entries opened on 1 September and close on 2 November, giving plenty of time for aspiring screamers to perfect their technique.
