The annual festival showcases some of Australia’s best cabaret performers.

Whether you are a seasoned cabaret enthusiast or a newcomer to the world of cabaret, with over 30 shows ranging from classic cabaret to contemporary performances, there is something to delight everyone.

Expect sultry jazz, musical interpretations of poetry and life, queer stories with a musical twist, as well as poignant tales and vulnerability shared through song.

Explore Melbourne’s latest arts and stage news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

There’ll be performances to get the party started, piano ballads and singalongs, songs from beloved TV shows and a bit of rock n roll thrown in for good measure.

The Opening Soiree is happening on July 4, with three hand-picked acts from across the festival program, hosted by Rachel Berger.

There’ll be a tribute to the birthplace of rock n roll in Sun Rising: The Songs That Made Memphis.

There’ll also be songs from the world of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and experience the buzz of New York in the late 1950s at Memo Music Hall starring singer-songwriter Nicky Kurta.

Another emotional highlight will be Helpmann Award-winning Jacqui Dark returning to the cabaret stage in a show co-created with Daryl Wallis and Sam Russell, to celebrate the friends who helped her get through a year of chemotherapy.

You can also expect Comedy Festival favourites The Kransky Sisters – who’ve just added a new show – among many other comedic acts that always provide a staple of the festival.
