The involved bands are Damn Terran, The Pretty Littles, La Bastard, The Battery Kids, Shoot The Sun, The Harlots, Seri Vida, Yard Apes, Digger and The Pussycat, Euphoriacs, Hounds Hounds Hounds, San Gras and Midnight Woolf.
Shannon Juvan of The Battery Kids told beat.com.au, “The idea stemmed from often being asked to go on promotional CD compilations that we have to pay to be a part of. As many people don’t listen to CDs nowadays, I thought we could do a better job of this ourselves for free by making an online compilation of good Melbourne rock’n’roll bands.
“On the business side of this I also thought it would be a great opportunity to network with like minded bands and get them all involved and supporting each other.”
The Battery Kids pitched the idea to La Bastard and Shoot The Sun and they came up with a list of acts they had played with, or wanted to play with.
The compilation’s launch will be celebrated with a massive warehouse party at RUBIX in Brunswick on Saturday October 5.
Juvan reveals, “Depending on the success and feedback we get we hope to make The D-Files an ongoing thing with new compilations and more warehouse gigs in the future.”
