Growing Up. I’ve always had stacks of CDs, something has always been playing at home, lots of classic ‘80s hits in my childhood. Pretty soon I was playing keys and guitar and it went from there. Luke started with slapping pots and listening to his parents’ old records, stuff like REM and the Rolling Stones and started playing drums soon after. We were both exposed to different music growing up at home.
Inspirations. My first favourite band was Muse. I once saw their live Glastonbury set on someone’s TV and was immediately pulled in. They were a huge reason why I picked up the guitar. Whereas Luke, he loved and still loves the Smashing Pumpkins and raves about Jimmy Chamberlin. And I know Cog was a reason why he played the drums when he was young.
Your Music. We’re never totally sure what to call ourselves. We think it’s a mix of indie, dream pop, and alternative. As a band we’re into groups like Warpaint, Tycho, The xx and Snakadaktal.It took a long time for us find our feet before we did our First EP. We all brought in different musical influences so we were still finding our sound. Recording First EP was us beginning to find ourselves and now we feel confident that we can show everyone what Seattle Fix is.
Your Show/Release. That’s what this show is about, launching into the scene and finally celebrating First EP. It also gives us a chance to show off the new stuff we’re working on.
