Melbourne-based artist Maxine Gillon has made a name for herself through her accomplished songwriting, intricate guitar work, and lush production arrangements. Her sound draws from 80’s Australiana, art rock, western twang, and dream pop, creating an inimitable blend that’s all her own.
Her debut album; Girl Songs, was released on October 23rd 2025. As a whole, it is an eight track expansive and inspired art-rock collection that draws from 80’s indie-pop & Australiana, 60’s Wall-of-sound as well as modern day dream-pop textures. The songwriting and arrangements are layered and sophisticated with the lyricism given special attention highlighting her poetic, absurdist, queer and sharp-witted worldview.
Having shared bills and stages with the likes of Jen Cloher, Underground Lovers & Party Dozen, she has quickly garnered a reputation for energetic and atmospheric live performances with her backing band The Blue Jeans.
She has also collaborated with alternative music luminaries such as Jonnine Standish (HTRK) and Lindy Morrison (The Go-Betweens), which has further embedded her in the Australian alternative music scene.
