Marty K & The Electric Hurricanes make their debut with kaleidoscopic single, ‘Rattle Snakes & Bones’

Melbourne guitarist and producer Marty K’s undeniable talent for cooking up a groove shines on this debut.

Earning himself a solid reputation within the local music scene performing with bands like Ten Thousand, Victoria K, and Riko Caval, Melbourne guitarist and producer Marty K arrives with his kaleidoscopic new endeavour Marty K & The Electric Hurricanes.

Bringing together a mix of eclectic musicians Marty has performed with from both past and present, Marty K & The Electric Hurricanes has unveiled their debut single, showcasing their endearing psychedelic brand of desert rock music that’s proving to be nothing but addictive raw grooves.

The single ‘Rattle Snakes & Bones’ is a foreboding guitar-driven tune heavy with groove and rock, filled with bluesy basslines and pummeling riffs, and the haunting and soulful voice of New Zealand singer Rosa Rico that sit somewhere between soothing and anxious.

A hypnotic deep dive into the corridors of the mind, the searing, slow-burner surges and flourishes with influences of 60s psychedelic rock, raw blues and desert road rock.

Further packed with heavy distortion, larger-than-life solos and some seriously booming percussion from acclaimed LA musician Fernando Perdomo (Jakob Dylan, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor), there are splashes of infectious psychedelic-blues overtones coming through the five-and-a-half-minute track.

Lifted from their forthcoming album in 2022, ‘Rattle Snakes & Bones’ is a defiant nod to the band’s unique sound that stands out from much of today’s prevailing rock music, influenced by Marty K’s stylistic roots and affinity with the rawness of blues and rock n roll.

“Each song explores a different aspect of my guitar playing and songwriting,” Marty K says.

“It’s a very guitar-driven record. There’s a lot of improvisation, I wanted to give it a loose feel, a throwback to the 70s and to capture the spirit and excitement of that spontaneity.”

Transporting listeners to a swaggering, hypnotic realm, the singles see Marty K continue to mine his treasure chest of influences and years of industry experience, which includes touring Australia and New Zealand extensively in various bands and supporting artists as varied as Dead Letter Circus, The Living End, Superjesus, Nathan Cavaleri and Juke Kartel, as well as icons Aerosmith, Van Halen, Richie Ramone and Buckcherry among others.

“This is a new beginning for me. I’ve been working on so much music over the last year! It’s probably been one of the most creative times of my life, despite all the craziness that’s been happening in the world.”

A grooving and hypnotic deep dive into desert rock, ‘Rattle Snakes & Bones’ is a bright and stunning glimpse into Marty K & The Electric Hurricanes electrifying new chapter, pooling his past experiences and influences into a cocktail of psychedelic and emotionally extracting sounds and heavy payoffs.
