Martians of Error

Join your favourite indie rock ratbags for an afternoon of original tunes at Mamma Chen’s. Kicking off with some unique acoustic acts – the passionate alt-rock songstress Cammi Kol, and inventive musical maverick Ben Elki.

Martians of Error play independent folk rock and punk in Melbourne. Alternating between dumb songs about smart stuff , and smart songs about dumb stuff, these experienced human impersonators bring a mix of up-tempo bangers and eclectic balladry to the scene. They currently sound like an unholy aural alliance between R.E.M., Pixies and Crowded House.

Born and raised in the bustling city of Melbourne, Cammi Kol‘s journey started at the ripe age of 5 years old. With a staggering 15+ years of vocal training and guidance behind her, she knew that music was a force held in the palm of her hands – unbeknownst it would turn into her greatest achievement. Now, as she establishes herself in the Melbourne live music scene, Cammi is bringing to life her carefully curated songs, highlighting the very best of her catalogue.

Known previously by the nom de plume The Tattered Sails, Ben Elki will take to the Mamma Chen’s stage for his first proper solo live show since the before times. Expect a set of copyright free Cohenisms, jangly folk worthy of a Gene Clark Byrds B-side and a significant side serving of sweet’n’bitter poptimism to make the medicine go down.
