‘Making heavy shit again’: Willaris K announces Australian tour

Willaris K tour

Willaris. K will be embarking on the biggest headline tour of his career next month, which will see him takeover Melbourne’s Forum and Sydney’s Roundhouse, plus head to Hobart, Perth and Brisbane, this September.

This announcement comes with the release of ‘Melt’ – a thumping new track with a dizzying kaleidoscopic visualiser by Matt Earl (Doja Cat, Cordae).  Co-written and produced with Seekae’s George Nicholas (Cosmo’s Midnight, Genesis Owusu, 1300, Young Franco) and mixed by mixed by Ewan Pearson (Chemical Brothers, MOBY, Depeche Mode), ‘Melt’ is a late-night techno cut created with Willaris. K’s earliest fans in mind.

“I started ‘Melt’ at the start of 2020 in Sydney with my friend George Nicholas (from Seekae),” Willaris said. “It was the first one I made out of all these new songs, and it was the first time I felt like revisiting the sonic zone where I first started with a new perspective. It came together quickly and felt cathartic to be making heavy shit again. Like I was revisiting a place I’d been avoiding for a while. After my Alchemy EP I wanted to make anything but that, and it took a few side quests making different music to come back and do it with the right intentions.”

‘Melt’ follows the Australian techno producer’s first single in two years, ‘Slow Down’, which premiered on triple j last month with an unnerving official music video making its TV debut on rage. Two sides of the same coin, ‘Melt’ and ‘Slow Down’ mark the first wave of new music from Willaris. K since the release of his LUSTRE and FULL NOISE EPs in 2020, after inking a local label deal with Soothsayer in 2018 and signing with Astralwerks / Capitol internationally the year after.

More recently, Willaris. K has created thumping official remixes for Grammy-nominated artists Flume and RÜFÜS DU SOL and dipped his toe in the world of film and TV, scoring the trailer for HBO series This Is Love Life and working on a new US TV series alongside Alex Somers (Sigur Ros producer, Black Mirror composer).  These tracks mark the dawn of a new era for the rising producer, as he embarks on the biggest headline shows of his career next month.
