Editor’s Note

Today I wrap up four-and-a-half weeks of filling in for our incredible online editor/social media manager/all-round content king, James Di Fabrizio and while he’s been off on an actual adventure for the past month, I feel like I’ve been on a bit of a journey myself.

This week we look at Melbourne International Film Festival and, paired with the recent announcement of their massive 2018 program, I’m reminded more than ever of how lucky we Melburnians are to live in a city that places so much value on creative industries. Despite the bone-chilling cold that’s blanketed the city this month, there’s always reason to pile on a few extra layers and brave the elements, and that in itself is enough to make these miserable few months bearable.

This week we’ve got a special guide dedicated to Melbourne Guitar Show and, as always, the program is bursting at the seams with talent. From seasoned experts like Albert Lee and Jeff Lang to up-and-comers such as Rackett and Charlie Bedford, as well as a host of gear and sound experts, MGS is a pretty cool way to celebrate one of music’s most diverse instruments. So rug up and go outside, there’s plenty happening right at your doorstep this winter.
