Editor’s Note

On Friday night some of us at Beat HQ were lucky enough to squeeze our way into the Old Bar and catch a glimpse of the fabulous Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever launching their new album. I say glimpse, because even though I’m kinda tall, I felt very short in that crowd. The sound, however, was on point and their new album Hopes Down is absolutely incredible live. We’re lucky enough to have them gracing our cover this week, so we sat down with the band to get a behind-the-scenes look at the album and to hear all about their whirlwind world tour.

I hope you’re sitting somewhere warm while you’re hanging out with us today, because this weather is beyond. To give you some weather-proof ideas, we’ve put together a little indoor activities special – from plants to climbing, there’s something for everyone. Keep the warm and fuzzies going while you hear from New Zealand songbird Kimbra, my new fave goths Pale Waves, and the always-glowing Jack River.

“Don’t talk about the weather too much or people will get bored,” is advice I clearly don’t take often.
