Editor’s Note
We’ve gotten a little bonkers over here at Beat, and this issue definitely reflect that. We’ve got the incredibly cool Benjamin Booker on the cover, he’ll be bringing his new album Witness to our shores for Bluesfest and let me tell you, it is well worth a listen (or five). That whole lineup is absolutely stacked – from Ms Lauryn Hill (my Queen) to Kesha (my Queen), and John Butler Trio to Seal, there’s something for everyone.
Elsewhere Melbourne’s own Vance Joy chats about his forthcoming second album, we get to know POW! Negro, Jack Broadbent stopped by ahead of his visit for Port Fairy Folk Festival, and we get the inside scoop on Endless Heights’ gorgeous new album.
Festival season is back (does it ever leave our beautiful country?) so get your tent out of the shed (make sure you’ve got all the pieces), dust off your sleeping bag, and get ready for an absolute tonne of incredible live music.
I’ll see you in the campsite somewhere, so please save me a seat. I don’t like to bring my own, but I really like to sit.
