London stalwart NTS Radio is bringing their unique brand of global underground sounds to Melbourne's north side next weekend.
Taking over both levels of the newly restored Northcote Theatre plus the neighbouring High Note, the radio giants have assembled a hefty lineup spanning experimental electronics, rare groove and forward-thinking club sounds.
Leading the charge is Ethiopian jazz legend Hailu Mergia, whose hypnotic keyboard work has influenced generations of musicians since his 1970s heyday with the Walias Band. The bill also features two massive names from the UK experimental scene, with both John T. Gast and breakfast show icon Flo Dill making their Australian debuts.

The globe-spanning lineup continues with Habibi Funk, bringing rare Arabic groove from Berlin, while New York’s HiTech and DJ Spanish Fly represent the cutting edge of US club music. Local talent gets equal billing, with live sets from post-punk outfits EXEK and Hydroplane, plus DJ sets from Crown Ruler residents ACOPIA and Bridget Small.
NTS Radio has built its reputation on championing boundary-pushing sounds since launching in 2011. The station now broadcasts from studios in London, Manchester, Los Angeles and Shanghai, featuring over 500 resident DJs and regular guest spots from electronic music’s most respected names.
This Melbourne takeover marks their biggest Australian event to date, following successful parties in Sydney and Perth throughout 2024. The multi-room setup will see experimental live acts in the theatre’s main room, while the upstairs space and High Note focus on club sounds.
