The annual Ticket Attendance And Revenue Survey 2010, released by Live Performance Australia, shows that the industry generated $1.3 billion in revenue, making 2010 a record year for the sector.
Music events grew by 50.1 per cent for attendance and 43.1 per cent increase for revenue.
With many record stores sadly closing, or veering precariously close to doing so, the explosion of the live performance sector may signal in a shift of dynamic in the collective consumer mentality.
While it seems as though the retail sector is more than a little bit struggling in this current climate, trend indicate that consumers are more willing to spend a lot more money on an experience rather than on materialistic goods.
