Lil Silva announces debut Australia and New Zealand tour in 2023

Lil Silva
words by Kaya Martin

Following the success of his debut album Yesterday is Heavy, UK funk-pop favourite Lil Silva is heading to Australia for a series of shows.

British DJ and producer Lil Silva will be touching down on local soil for the first time this summer for a set of gigs across Australia and New Zealand. Coming off the success of his critically-acclaimed album Yesterday is Heavy, he is set to grace fans with his funky, jazz-inspired earworms.

Bouncy, bass-heavy, and bursting at the seams with retro synth licks, his new material is a few strides away from the unrelenting Bedford grime scene where he got his start. But early fans shouldn’t fret – he’s kept the unmistakable Silva sound from tracks like Seasons and Pulse vs. Flex, and floated his warm, delicate vocals on top. They add an intimate touch and provide structure to the multi-influenced LP.

For Lil Silva, the full-length debut, hailed by Pitchfork as “an extension of UK club’s instinctual soul”, is a culmination of 12 years in the game. Released this past July, it features collaborations with fellow jazz- and RnB-pop contemporaries including Sampha, Little Dragon, BADBADNOTGOOD, and Charlotte Day Wilson.

Prior to the success of the album, he kept himself busy by lending a hand in the studio with pop greats such as Mark Ronson, Adele, and Diplo. His appearances down under will include a stopover in New Zealand, two sets at Sydney Festival, and a one-off headlining gig at Melbourne’s The Night Cat with tickets dropping November 16th.
