Liam Snowy Halliwell launches new singles at Bell City Takeaway tonight

Words by staff writer

Snowy heads to Bell City Takeaway tonight to unveil two singles from his forthcoming solo album, Pure Joy.

Snowy has spent years across Melbourne’s music scene, with stints in outfits such as The Ocean Party and Snowy Band. Pure Joy marks the first time he’s put out a record under his own name rather than a band banner, following a long run of group work.

First single The Good Die Young surfaced last week, offering an early taste ahead of Pure Joy landing in full on 16 October. The track turns on a racing-clock idea, weighing the pressure of keeping pace against the worry of being left behind.

The album comes via Blossom Rot Records, the independent Melbourne outfit celebrating six years in 2026. Since forming in 2020, the imprint has amassed 36 records and a close-knit roster of homegrown acts, spanning names like Cool Sounds, Loose Tooth and Bad Bangs, with its 40th release now on the way.

Blossom Rot has leaned on a community-first, do-it-yourself approach from the start, pairing its output with live shows, mixtapes and venue takeovers around town. It’s been a full year too, with the label welcoming My Guardian Angel to the fold, taking its first trip to Japan, and rolling out albums from Nat Pavlovic and Mega Fäuna.

Tonight’s show also slots into a busy stretch for Blossom Rot, with Sweetie’s album Dogtooth due 25 September and Nat Pavlovic lined up to support a run of dates through the month.

My Guardian Angel share tonight’s bill, readying debut album Hello Love for 2 October after dropping single Wake-n-Bake on 9 September. Elena Jones fills out the lineup at the Preston room, and tickets are moving now.
