New York based artist Lea Bertucci performs at The Substation for one night only, with support from Australian singer/composer/improviser Shoeb Ahmad, aka Sia Ahmad. Friday 19 May, 7:30pm!
Bertucci creates a profound and personal universe of sound in her live performance. Stemming from her interests in sonic mass, harmony and texture, Bertucci’s work juxtaposes her skills as a wind instrument performer against a mesh of tape noise, extended drone approaches and tidal waves of bass frequency.
Ahmad weaves a deft sonic language shaped equally through intense improvisational strategies and her interest in song form. Her work is aesthetically divergent, but united under her unique sense of relational sonics.
Doors open from 6.30pm. Enjoy a drink at the bar or view our current exhibitions – Nuclear Waste Dump and Five Self-Vibrating Regions of Intensities – before heading to the main space for the performance.
