Local songwriters Laura Ellen and Hazel Ray will be co-headlining their show at Ringo Barr, Brunswick on June 25th.
Whilst both artists have their own unique sound, they both find themselves expressing important issues and thought provoking topics through their music, often centred around their own journeys of personal growth.
Hazel Ray, having recently released her single My Demon, is quickly making a name for herself in the Melbourne music scene not only as a songwriter but as a workshop facilitator, blending together her love of music, mindfulness and NLP. Her lyrics written with purpose are designed for those who need to hear them most. Providing her listeners a place to connect and a place to heal.
Classically trained, Hazel Ray, uses her extensive vocal range to welcome you into the music, layered over the top of beautifully haunting instrumental arrangements, her songs are as inclusive and her sound as accessible as possible.
Laura Ellen is a solo alt-pop singer-songwriter & pianist, Tassie born and now based in Melbourne. Laura ties together elements of pop, soul & folk through lush piano accompaniment & sweet, soulful vocals inspired by acts such as Ben Abraham, Maggie Rogers & London Grammar.
Laura’s songwriting is an honest reflection of the experiences and struggles of life in her late 20s including topics of burn out, vulnerability, ambition, loss, confusion and aims to dive deeper in to issues that matter and that are perhaps less spoken about in a songwriting context, aiding her listeners in starting a dialogue around these topics. Whilst Laura is no stranger to the Melbourne music scene, performing at iconic venues such as The Espy, The Corner Hotel, The Bergy Seltzer and The Gaso, this is her first show performing under the name Laura Ellen, in anticipation of her debut single being released in the following week.
Her live performances are rich with emotion, promising to take you on an intimate, raw, yet uplifting journey that will leave an impact on you long after you have finished listening.
