KISS locked in to rock at the AFL Grand Final

The legendary glam rockers will headline the Telstra pre-game entertainment Australia's most popular sporting event.

KISS have been chosen to get the engines revved at this year’s AFL Grand Final. The New York Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be playing a short-but-sweet set ahead of the big game at the MCG.

They’ll be replacing alt-rockers Crowded House, who were scheduled to perform but pulled out last month allegedly due to disputes about stage placement.

KISS are currently on their sprawling End Of The Road tour –  a final hurrah before they retire for good. They had not been planning to visit Australia, but a wildly successful national petition encouraged them to play one final show in Syndey at Accor Stadium on October 7, supported by Weezer.

When they perform at the final on September 30, it’ll be the last chance Melbourne fans have to catch the band live.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be performing in front of 100,000 footy fans at the biggest and best sporting event in the country! Be ready to ROCK as we’ll be coming full throttle into the ‘G. See you for that One Day in September!” says the band.

As one of the biggest sporting events in the country, the AFL Grand Final has, over the years, featured talented acts including The Killers, Meatloaf, Ed Sheeran and Jimmy Barnes.

With 44 albums behind them and over 100 million sold worldwide, KISS are set to rouse the footy fans with their over-the-top pyrotechnics, gothic costumes and age-old classics like Detroit Rock City, I Was Made For Lovin’ You, and Rock And Roll All Nite.
