Shakespeare’s King Lear, presented by Michael Grandage and starring Derek Jacobi, will be screening in Melbourne, broadcast live from London, as part of National Theatre Live.

An ageing Monarch. A kingdom divided. A child’s love rejected… As Lear’s world descends into chaos, all that he once believed is brought into question.

One of the greatest works in western literature, King Lear explores the very nature of human existence: love and duty, power and loss, good and evil.

Michael Grandage’s acclaimed production of King Lear, starring Derek Jacobi in the title role, continues the second season of National Theatre Live – the best of British Theatre captured live and screened in Melbourne.

Shakespeare’s play will be captured live in high definition at The Donmar Warehouse’s home in London’s Covent Garden and broadcast in Melbourne at Cinema Nova.

You can attend a screening of King Lear at Cinema Nova (Carlton) on Saturday February 19 (1pm), Sunday February 20 (1pm), Wednesday February 23 (11.30am) or finally on Thursday February 24 (6.30pm).
