Led by titular bassist James Lockwood, the JL Trio draws on a diverse selection of music from the Bebop tradition of the 1940’s and 50’s. The group reflects Lockwood’s deep love for the music of Bud Powell and Charlie Parker, and features the upright bass as the leading instrument of the ensemble. Performing in the timeless piano trio format, the JL Trio presents dynamic, sophisticated interpretations of better- and lesser-known material from the great composers of the Bebop tradition.
