Jimmy Barnes has announced three new shows for his Working Class Man 40th Anniversary Tour, bringing the iconic album to Rod Laver Arena on 10 April.
The Australian rock legend will perform his landmark 1985 album For The Working Class Man in full, joined by special guests Icehouse, Ian Moss and Kate Ceberano. The new Melbourne show joins previously announced dates at Sandstone Point Hotel on 21 March and Centennial Vineyards in Bowral on 28 March. Released in December 1985, For The Working Class Man spent seven weeks at number one and has sold more than 500,000 copies in Australia.
The album features classics including I’d Die To Be With You Tonight, Ride The Night Away and the signature track Working Class Man.

Opening act John Rooney brings a unique connection to the tour. The orthopaedic surgeon who operated on Barnes’ hips three times also fronted The Lonelyhearts, the support band at the Comb and Cutter Hotel in Blacktown on the night Barnes married Jane. Rooney’s new album Hoodwink features Barnes on the opening track Trouble Always Finds Me.
The tour celebrates the 40th anniversary of an album that defined Barnes’ solo career. From I’d Die To Be With You Tonight through to Paradise, audiences will hear the record that the authors of The 100 Best Australian Albums declared “defined both him and much of Australia”. The special 40th Anniversary Edition collection is available now on CD, cassette and 2LP vinyl.
Telstra Plus members can access presale tickets from 17 November at 10am. General public tickets go on sale 21 November at 12pm.
