Jessie J, “the best singer in the world right now”, according to Justin Timberlake, is on her way to Australia. The 22 year old sensation released her debut album, Who You Are, last Friday in Australia.
The Essex-born singer’s second single, Price Tag (featuring B.O.B.), is currently the second most added single to radio in Australia and her album has already gone gold in the UK. No idea who this star-on-the-rise is? Here’s the lowdown. She was the winner of the BBC Sound Of 2011 and winner of the 2011 Brit Critic’s Choice Award. She received her first break in the entertainment industry when she was a child in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down The Wind. At the age of 18, after suffering a stroke, Jessie J teamed up with super-producer, Dr Luke, and co-wrote Miley Cyrus’s Party In The USA as well as songs for Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Chris Brown and Alicia Keys.
At this stage it is still unclear what Jessie J will be doing in Australia in early May with her label, Universal Music, simply saying that this will be a “promotional visit”.
