Celebrated Australian artists John McAll and Debra Byrne combine to present a rich and intimate jazz program that will delight fans and those new to the genre alike at the program launch.
John McAll, graduate of the inaugural VCA Jazz Program, pianist and musical director, was a member of the ‘80’s band I’m talking and also the legendary Black Sorrows. He has performed internationally and nationally and has a long list of recordings including the 2009 instrumental gold album Back Money.
Grammy and Aria award winning vocalist Debra Byrne has extensive stage, television and concert experience across the musical spectrum. Her broad range as a vocalist brings a smoothness and maturity to the songs she now chooses to sing.
Both artists are well known individually to Australian and international audiences. Together they bring honed artistry and unforgettable jazz performance.
This concert will launch the 2023 Jazz series which will support our Jazz musicians and provide a rich Jazz experience for audiences. All proceeds from the concert will go the Montsalvat Foundation for the restoration of one of the original Montsalvat buildings, Lily’s Cottage.
