Jakub Hrůša Sets Up To The Podium As Jiří Bělohlávek Falls Ill

Praise by the Gramophone as one of the ten young conductors “one the verge of greatness”, Hrůša will step up to the podium to conduct Bělohlávek’s two performances at The Arts Centre later this month.

 

Scheduled for Sunday August 26, 2pm, the first performance will feature Smetana’s overture to The Bartered Bride, Josef Suk’sFantasy in G minor led by Czech violinist Josef Špaček, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E flat major.

 

The second peformance on Monday August 27, 8pm, will include Janáček’s overture to From the House of the Dead, BohuslavMartinu’s Memorial to Lidice, soloist Jan Martiník in Antonin Dvořák’s Biblical Songs and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6.
