Singer-songwriter Jack Gray heads out on a national tour, with a Melbourne stop at Northcote Social Club in September.
Jack Gray is about to release his first record, and the Mackay-raised musician has just handed over its centrepiece.
Swimming In Jeans arrives on 11 September through Island Records Australia, and it’s the album Jack Gray has been building towards since he emerged as a solo artist. Its title track is out now, landing as the sixth single and the sound of him paring his production right back to the essentials.

The album came together over roughly the past year, drawn from songs Jack Gray wrote across a three-year stretch and recorded in studios dotted around Australia and overseas. He produced and played almost all of it himself, pulling on 2000s indie, pub rock and new wave while keeping things stripped back so the songs stay front and centre.
The title track leans on a muted rubber bridge guitar, with a sock pressed against the strings to hand it a soft, submerged quality. It follows earlier cuts Look At You, Tattoos, Drive Her Home, Bluffin and Dumb Sh*t, which have pulled more than 1.5 million streams between them. Across his wider catalogue, Gray has now passed 50 million.
Running 12 tracks from opener The Deep End to closer Safe Space, Swimming In Jeans lands on CD, across streaming services and as a limited wavy blue vinyl. It’s Gray’s first full-length since he signed to Island Records Australia in 2025.
The release caps a hectic run that’s taken him through a Philippines promo tour and a national support slot with UK breakout Freya Skye. Now based in Los Angeles, the self-taught multi-instrumentalist has shared stages with Tate McRae, Matt Corby and Maisie Peters along the way.
