Melbourne's most unsettling hardware store returns, and this time the Bunnings cult has perfected its rituals for Melbourne Fringe.
Absurdist comedy Lowest Prices Are Just the Beginning is back at Melbourne Fringe after last year’s sold-out run of their Bunnings cult-classic. Red polo shirts have become religious garments, paint swatches hold mystical powers, and something darker is brewing beneath those familiar linoleum floors.
This fully improvised theatrical comedy explores what happens when retail loyalty crosses into spiritual territory. Lowest Prices Are Just the Beginning transforms everyday DIY dreams into deranged devotionals, where fluorescent lighting creates sanctuary experiences and loyalty cards become sacred texts.
Audiences can expect unholy Bunnings bargains among outdoor furniture displays, spiritual awakenings in the lighting section, and sacred mysteries hidden between discount laminate flooring options. Staff members have spent 12 months perfecting their rituals, and they’re ready to welcome new disciples into their fluorescent-lit world.

Comedy meets retail satire, and Bunnings adoration, in this uniquely Australian theatrical experience. You don’t need to have witnessed last year’s phenomenon to join the congregation, but returning fans will notice the cult has evolved. With nametags gleaming with devotion and fresh stock arriving daily, Melbourne’s favourite hardware store parody is more devout, deranged, and dangerously discounted than ever.
It’s hard to think of a more ripe topic for satire than Australia’s weekend warrior culture meeting spiritual devotion.
