After 10 years of DIY, community building and carefully curated lineups, the beloved dance party has hung up its boots.
We hate goodbyes. And when it comes to saying goodbye to local festivals, especially those with a reputation as raucous as Inner Varnika… well, we hate that even more.
The independent music festival, located three hours out of Melbourne in Booker, Victoria, has been an Easter Weekend highlight for the past nine years. This April, the party hung up its boots.

“Inner Varnika has been part of us for ten years, it’s been a pivotal part of our lives and for many who attend every year,” the festival directors say.
“When we set out a decade ago we aimed to create a space that didn’t really exist yet: the small-scale, independent, community-centric, DIY type of festival that is purely about exceptional music and freedom of expression. Now, we’re part of a large and growing ecosystem of such events and that’s something we’re proud to have been a small part of authoring.
“But we feel ten years is a milestone, a marker and a good opportunity to step back, take stock and allow some time and space to explore new things. We’re not sure what comes next, but there we do know there won’t be an IV next year.”

The lineup featured an expertly designed collection of legendary and emerging international artists, including Donato Dozzy (IT), DJ Sprinkles (US/JP), Sex Tags (NO), Flo Dill (UK), Dreamcastmoe(US), Higher Intelligence Agency (UK), and MC Yallah & Debmaster (Uganda, France).
