LA heavy duo House of Protection have unleashed their third single of the year, I Need More Than This.
The track is lifted from their forthcoming EP, Outrun You All, set to drop via Red Bull Records later this month. Coming off the explosive nature of their last banger Fire, the band eases into a slower-paced soundscape without losing any of that infectious energy they’ve been smashing stages with.
I Need More Than This strikes the perfect balance between ethereal and powerful, with a defiant message that “something better must exist.” The music video pairs the tune with performance footage shot in classic 90s grunge style.
“I Need More Than This is us exploring a mood between really heavy/fast and slow/chill,” the duo shared. “We don’t really have a song like this so it was fun to push ourselves in this way.”

From chaos to chill
Just a year after forming, House of Protection have rapidly cemented themselves as one of the most exciting live acts in the scene. Earlier this year, they toured Australia supporting Bad Omens and Poppy, winning over 25,000 new fans, and featured on Architects’ single Brain Dead.
The band has just wrapped an 11-city sprint across the US supporting Poppy on her They’re All Around Us Tour, earning new devotees each night with their inclusive stage presence and exhilarating performances.
Their genre-spanning first EP, GALORE, scored critical acclaim from The Guardian, Kerrang!, Revolver and more, hitting #14 on Current Hard Rock Albums and #15 on Alternative New Artist Albums charts. Their ability to seamlessly switch between high-octane hardcore and atmospheric trip-hop makes Outrun You All an impressive sophomore offering.

The LA duo will celebrate the release of Outrun You All with a special hometown show at the iconic Roxy in LA on May 24, which happens to be the shared birthday of band members Aric and Steve. The gig promises to be an absolute scorcher, with fans eagerly anticipating hearing the new material live for the first time.
House of Protection’s rapid ascent has earned them nominations for Best International Breakthrough Artist and Best Breakthrough Live Act at this year’s Heavy Music Awards in London. The ceremony in August will see them rubbing shoulders with the biggest names in heavy music, cementing their status as one of the most promising new acts in the scene.
Following their EP release, the band will hit the European festival circuit with appearances at mega-fests Download and Reading and Leeds, before joining British heavyweights Architects for their EU/UK tour in October. It’s a massive vote of confidence for the fledgling act, whose explosive live show has clearly caught the attention of industry heavyweights.
