Visiting from Berlin, House of Light were raised in the squats out of punk, & now croon an old lost tune amidst a cinematic shimmer of shoegaze meshing synths and guitars. In an interview with Andy Rourke of the Smiths for East Village Radio, they described themselves as “evoking the romanticism of the 80s & the darker turn of the 90s but with a prophetic modernism” HoL comes from the same places that inspired post-punk bands like the Cure & Joy Division. Their new album “21st Century Prayer” sees HoL traversing from the dark & dancy to the dreamy & ephemeral, populated with implosive poetry.
