A sold-out Perth production of The Diary of Anne Frank is making its way to Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre in March.
The stage adaptation comes directly from a critically acclaimed run at The Heath Ledger Theatre in Perth, and tells the remarkable true story of 13-year-old Anne Frank. The Diary of Anne Frank follows the young Jewish girl and her family as they spend two years hiding in occupied Amsterdam during World War II, and will debut in Melbourne before heading to State Theatre in Sydney.
Based on the 1955 play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, the production draws from Anne’s original diary, which was published by her father Otto Frank after he survived the war. The diary offers an intimate window into the fears, challenges and small triumphs of life in hiding, and has made Anne one of the most enduring voices in 20th-century literature.
