As Headline Access continues in 2023, local musicians and lovers of music have another unmissable opportunity to gain invaluable experiences, thanks to Headline Acts, Laneway Festival ‘23.

Committed to supporting the emerging headliners of the future, wine brand Headline Acts is bringing back Headline Access – a platform created with the intention to bolster the careers of independent Australian artists and creatives.

Headline Acts launched its first instalment of Headline Access The Release Cycle in May last year, which offered one emerging artist the opportunity to gain invaluable mentorship from influential Australian music industry names, including Johann Ponniah (I OH YOU Records), Johnny Took (DMA’S), The Orchard, Sosefina Fuamoli (music journalist) and more. In partnership with Muso, The Release Cycle saw winning artist YARA gain the support to record, mix, master and distribute an incoming single to the world (watch this space).

Keeping the grapes and good times rolling, Headline Acts has revealed the next iteration of Headline Access.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Continuing to nurture the careers of independent artists and reward their supportive fans, with exclusive workshops for aspiring artists and Laneway Festival VIP experiences, Headline Access has all this and more up for grabs in February 2023.

On January 31 from Auckland’s East St. Hall, and one week later on February 7 from Sydney’s Abercrombie Hotel, Headline Access will host the emerging artists and industry-folk to learn from some of the best names in music across two days of intimate artist and industry-led workshops and talks. An international round-up of talent will lead the intimate sessions, including Baltimore punk outfit Turnstile and UK Grammy Awards-nominated rapper Slowthai alongside workshops led by Australian-bred Berlin-based producer Logic1000, Gumbaynggirr MC Tasman Keith and New Zealand group, The Beths. To be in the running to secure a spot, enter the competition HERE.

Direct from Baltimore’s punk-hardcore scene, Turnstile will lead Auckland’s round of Headline Access, as they retell a decade of commanding moshpits across the globe with their progressive back catalogue and spirited punk ethos. Grammy-nominated rapper, Slowthai, will also offer an exclusive Q&A, absorbing attendees into his wired tongue-in-cheek world of politically aimed and hyper-energised rhymes. Joining the series of talks, is Auckland-based power-pop group The Beths, whose penchant for clever, fast loud songs has earned a loyal following and critical acclaim.

The following week in Sydney’s Headline Access, Slowthai will also lead the charge for the Aussie edition of Headline Access, on his first trip to Australia since 2019, as well as adored indie rockers, The Beths. Additionally, Mixmag cover star and global dance export, Logic1000 will showcase her world of electronic club-leaning sounds that have captured the attention of DJs, fans and critics alike.

Tasman Keith also joins Headline Access in Sydney. Keith’s workshop will centre on remaining true to yourself as an artist with added insights into the writing process and his experience as a First Nations artist within the industry. Finally, Support Act will offer a bite-sized segment of their “Creative Minds” workshop designed for Australian music industry creatives. Attendees will not want to miss talks from industry-led panellists from Laneway, Support Act and more. With the Auckland event being hosted by MC SLAVE (Fat Freddy’s Drop / Logg Cabin), and the Sydney iteration hosted by Mikey Cahill (journalist and host) and Sose Fuamoli (music writer and radio host), both events are sure to entertain as well as educate.

As the official wine partner of Laneway Festival ‘23,Headline Access will also reward music fans and offer two festival goers the ultimate money-can’t-buy VIP Laneway festival experience. You can Enter the competition HERE.
