Melbourne electro-rock trio Halcyon Drive have dropped their latest single ‘Only Youth’ today, and it is a knock-out.
On the back of their recent critically-acclaimed releases ‘Agnosia’ and ‘Silver Ray’, Halcyon Drive have delivered yet another instantly-loveable track with ‘Only Youth’. The synth-heavy tune melds rhythmic percussion with swirling soundscapes, resulting in the kind of track that is bound to nestle into a corner of your brain for days on end.
“‘Only Youth’ is something a little different narrative-wise,” says the band’s frontman, Mick Oechsle. “It’s essentially written from the perspective of someone in the afterlife, waiting for their lover, after an accident has taken them too young. It’s an exploration of values, of reflection. What do we do with our youth – how do we spend our time? How do we waste it? Would you live with regrets if today was your last?”
