The second single from Gypsy & The Cat’s just-released album The Late Blueis a glistening moustachioed hunk in denim cutoffs pumping weights while simultaneously surfing some mean waves. The physicality of the vocal groans and hisses that permeate the beat is attention-grabbing, providing a near-sexual garnish to the dreamy lead vocal. There’s a lot going on, and the mixing job by Flaming Lips and Tame Impala aural wizard Dave Fridmann does wonders for the Melbourne duo’s self-produced affair.
